At Abbas we don’t do just do weddings. We are also involved with lots of corporate and charity events with many organisations approaching us. Our most recent charity event was for The Hope Ball at The Royal Cresent in Bath on the 17th of June.
The Hope Ball – Charity Event
The Hope Ball was supporting the RUH cancer centre, The Forever Friends Appeal. The target was to raise money towards the cost of building a £27 million pioneering new Cancer Centre at the RUH.
This particular year was hosted on the lawns of The Royal Cresent in Bath, in one of our marquees. Celebrating its 250th anniversary with 250 guests. The event was to hold a fine art auction with all money raised to go to The Forever Friends appeal in aid of cancer care. It was an extremely glamorous event including a fine 3-course meal, wine and entertainment.
There were a variety of different sponsors for the charity event with abbas marquees being a key part. Many other generous sponsors included “Aaron Evans Architects Ltd” and “Eat Five Star”. The full list can be found here.
Many meetings took place before the charity event to ensure that everything was perfect and ran smoothly. This included layout CAD drawings to show the sizing and positioning of the marquee. We even had some bespoke illuminated hoops made by our very own abbas lighting technician.
Guests were to be seated on large round tables and completely clear chairs which we sourced especially for the event. Our round LED light up bar was a big feature along with a walkway of light up spheres.
It took a large crew 2 days to complete the build to perfection. They started bright and early and worked on into the evening to ensure everything was in place for the final touches. The marquee was constructed from two different sized structures which also included clear roofs split over the dining area.
A key member of the Abbas crew was present throughout the whole evening. This was to ensure everything with the marquee and especially the lighting was exactly as it should be.
The charity event was an amazing success on the night and as a result, it raised over £100,000. The Hope Ball set a record high for the amount raised at a single event of its kind.
