Autumn is definitely one of the best times for weddings and here’s why.
Its all about the stunning colours, locations and themes. We’ve come up with some ideas to give you inspiration for your big day during one of the most beautiful times of the year.
Autumn Colour Schemes and Decorations
With all the trees and leaves changing the colours are stunning, why not match and compliment them with your own wedding colour scheme. Rusty colours such as oranges and dark greens work perfectly along with deep reds, maroons and mochas. Dress your bridesmaid’s and decorate your venue in deep berry colours for stunning photos and a cosy warm feel. Make use of the fallen leaves by using them as decorations, they can be made into garlands hung from string with little pegs. Cut shapes into them for an added effect. Use real fruits to decorate – big bowls of apples, berries and grapes will look stunning and can also be eaten by your guests.
Autumn Wedding Dresses
Lace dresses with longer sleeves paired with a cloak or a faux fur shrug are particularly popular for an autumn wedding. Ivory and dusky tones are a great colour alternative to a traditional white dress. Hide wellies underneath whilst having photos to protect your shoes.
Wedding flowers, bouquets and centrepieces can be created with dahlias, hibiscuses and orange roses. Match your buttonholes with a single rose or an autumnal leaf.
Autumn Menus and Treats
With the days and evening turning colder the Autumn is a great time for warm comfort foods. Seasonal soups are a great way to start with ingredients such as pumpkin, parsnip and squash. Follow this with a hearty game stew with mustard mash potatoes or a warming chicken casserole. Finish with a fruit pie and custard or melt in the middle chocolate puddings.
For a special treat, Toffee apples, toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate will certainly get your guests smiling.
If your looking for a cosy rustic wedding that still incorporates the outdoors then a Tipi is a wonderful structure. With solid wood rustic tables and benches covered in sheepskin rugs and blankets, you couldn’t feel more comfortable. A large fire pit is perfect to warm your hands and brilliant for toasting marshmallows.
Make the most of the darker evenings by lighting a big bonfire and having a firework display. Mini Sparklers would make great favours for your guests and look really great in photos. Flying Chinese lanterns look stunning when they are all let off at once and would be a really memorable part to the day. Just remember to make sure they are eco-friendly.
There are many ways to create the perfect wedding during the autumn season.
